This is entirely due to their dedicated hard work throughout the year. More volunteers would be warmly welcomed. Green fingers are not essential – just a little bit of spare time!

SVP News:

The sum of £250 has been sent to East Africa for famine and drought relief.

The St Vincent de Paul Society, here in St Mary’s, meets in the evening of the second Monday of every month. Our work consists of visiting parishioners at home or in hospital; distributing furniture etc. or simply providing help and support wherever it is needed. Often, our members are approached by concerned friends, family or neighbours or sometimes, we just see names in the church newsletter of those we feel may benefit from a friendly visit and a chat. Visits to homes / hospitals usually last about half an hour. (New legislation means that visits must comprise of at least two persons). We need new members to carry on this very worthwhile work! If you are interested or can help in any way, please speak to either Gus McDonald or William Ballantyne.

The S.V.P Charity is always looking for new volunteers. No training or transport is required! Please remember all the good work the S.V.P does and show your appreciation by placing a donation in the St Vincent de Paul box as you leave after Mass today….. and every Sunday!
