About the Gift Aid Scheme The Scheme came into being in April 2000. It is of great benefit to the recipient charity, which can reclaim Tax from the Inland Revenue and is simple and flexible to operate

· You can pay variable amounts

· There is no minimum time period

· Any UK tax payer can join the Scheme

· You can cancel at any time.

Can anyone Gift Aid?

No. You must be a UK tax payer and have paid as much tax in the year as we are claiming back.

· Example: If you give £5 each week, we can claim back a further £1.25 for each offering (25p in the £1), as long as you have paid at least £65.00 in tax during the year.

(£1.25 [tax paid on £5] x 52 [number of offerings] = £65.00)

As a tax payer, why should I Gift Aid my offerings to the Church?

By doing so, the Parish can increase its income at no extra cost to you.

What does it involve?

You must sign a simple Gift Aid Declaration form, which states that you wish St Mary’s Church to treat all donations made from the date of the declaration as Gift Aid donations and to reclaim the tax accordingly.

Is there anything else I have to do?

You will have to make your offerings using numbered envelopes (or by Bankers Order or cheque) as all such payments have to be recorded by the Parish.

What if my circumstances change?

Simply let us know.

Who else will know about my offerings?

Be assured that the Church holds all information on Gift Aid offerings in the strictest confidence.

Can I support several charities at the same time?

Yes, as many as you like, but you must make a separate Gift Aid Declaration for each charity.

Can I Gift Aid retrospectively?

Yes, the rules allow us to reclaim tax retrospectively, back as far as six years.

Christmas Toy Appeal:

The Salvation Army is urgently appealing for new children’s toys/games, to distribute among needy and vulnerable families in the area, at Christmas time.

If you can contribute, please either hand your donations directly into the Salvation Army, or leave them with one of our Pass Keepers and we will forward them.

Please help if you can!

Children’s Liturgy …..

…will re-commence next week after the long summer break.
All children between the ages of 3 and 12 are invited to attend – and very young children are welcome to sit at the back of the Hall with accompanied adults.

We have a number of religious books that are suitable for young people – and would be grateful of any relevant donations of unwanted books, games or jigsaws in good condition.

Finally- and very urgently – more Leaders are required. Full training will be given.

If you can help us in this worthy cause, please contact Maria Ford.
