Special Collection today for the Scottish Catholic Education Service.

HCPT Appeal: Next week we will be joined by Orla King, a parishioner at St. Francis Xavier’s in Falkirk, who will be here to make an appeal to support the work of the Hosanna House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust. Orla will be travelling to Lourdes later this year with a group of other volunteers to support sick and vulnerable young people. However, these pilgrimages are only possible with a great deal of fundraising. Orla will be at both the vigil and Sunday morning Masses, and you’re generosity would be greatly appreciated for this very worthy cause.

Catholic Education Week: Today is Catholic Education Sunday, and marks the beginning of Catholic Education Week. This is an important opportunity for us to celebrate each year the work of our Catholic schools. This year, this is of particular importance as we are also celebrating the centenary of the Education (Scotland) Act 1918 which saw Catholic schools join the state system and laid the foundations for the strong network of Catholic schools which exist today. To mark this occasion, we are welcoming pupils from St. Mary’s R.C. Primary School and St. Mungo’s R.C. High School to our Mass today (Sunday). They will lead our readings and explain to us what Catholic Education Week is all about, explaining the significance of this year’s theme: “Serving the Common Good.” A range of work from pupils at St. Mary’s is also on display at the front of the church.

RCIA: This week we will continue to explore the Creed, specifically looking at our beliefs in the Holy Spirit and in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. All are welcome to join us on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in the church hall.

Volunteers wanted: More ‘Collection Money Counters’ – particularly after the Sunday morning Mass – are required. If you can spare about 30 minutes, even if only occasionally, please see one of the Pass-Keepers.
