PARISH ASSEMBLY: Due to unforeseen circumstances the Annual Parish Assembly has been postponed. It will now be held on Sunday 26 May 2019 after 10am Mass.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: The next meeting will take place on 15 May 2019 at 7pm in the hall. All are very welcome to attend.

CELEBRATION OF MARRIAGE: Are you married? If so, Archbishop Leo Cushley cordially invites you and your spouse to join him on Wednesday 1 May 2019, the Feast of St Joseph the Worker, to celebrate the gift of marriage at St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Edinburgh at 7.30pm. The Archbishop will offer Holy Mass during which he will impart his blessing upon those married couples present. A celebratory reception will follow in the cathedral café. All who wish to celebrate the gift of marriage are very welcome, especially couples celebrating significant anniversaries this year. The event is organised by the Archdiocesan Commission for Marriage & Family Life.

PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND: This pilgrimage, organised by Mr Alex Mosson former Lord Provost of Glasgow, takes place from 20th – 29th June 2019 and the cost is £1295. If you are interested, booking forms are available in the hall.

 GIFT AID AND THE SECOND COLLECTION: If you are a gift aider and you also put money into the second collection it would be better if you were to put that money in your gift aid envelope instead, we can then reclaim 25p for every pound donated. If you are a taxpayer and not currently in the parish gift aid scheme please consider joining; signing a simple form is all that is required.  A Bottle Bingo Evening will be held on Friday 29 March at 7pm in the church hall. Tickets are still available and donations of prizes would be very much appreciated.

SVP NEWS: Caravan Holidays for 2019 (of one week’s duration), Port Seton, West Lothian. Available for church members – Saturday May 25thand Saturday August 17th. We also have a slot for Saturday August 10th, but as this is during the school holidays, it will be reserved for a family with children. Transport will be provided, if needed. Lists will be available soon, or come and have a private word – we need a full name, address and telephone number.

LENTEN TALKS FOR YOUNG ADULTS: AN INVITATION: Archbishop Leo Cushley would like to invite the young adults of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh to join him for a series of talks during Lent, to be given by himself and beginning this Sunday, entitled “On the Way: Walking with Jesus and His Disciples towards Jerusalem”. The talks will take place on Sunday 24 March and Sunday 7 April from 5pm to 7pm at the Gillis Centre, 100 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh, EH9 1BB. The evening will consist of a talk by the Archbishop, Q&A, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction and Confession, and will conclude with social time and pizza.

SAVE THIS DATE: On Thursday 14th March 2019, Father Forrest will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood, 60 years ago in 1959. As a parish, we will be celebrating this important occasion and we would like to extend an invite to everyone to join us.

On Thursday 14th March 2019, Mass will be celebrated at 10am with the schoolchildren from St. Mary’s and all are very welcome to come along. In the evening at 7pm, Mass will be celebrated with Archbishop Cushley and other clergy also in attendance. Again, you are very welcome to attend this celebration which will be followed by refreshments. On Sunday 17th March 2019, we will further celebrate Father Forrest’s Diamond Jubilee at the 10am Mass which will be followed by refreshments.

Over the coming weeks, the Piety Stall will have a range of cards available to purchase for this special occasion.

OTHER DATES FOR YOUR DIARY: 2019 World Day of Prayer.  ‘Come – Everything is Ready’ written by the women of Slovenia.  ‘Bo’ness Churches Together’ has organised this event in Craigmailen Church on Friday 1 March at 7:30pm. Refreshments will follow and all are welcome to attend.

On Friday 1 March the St Mary’s Nursery will be holding a ‘Flower Crown Workshop’ from 7pm – 9pm in the church hall. See the poster in the hall for details.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY: We have been looking at the meanings of The Lord’s Prayer. We discussed poverty and the importance of food, water and a roof over our heads. Next Sunday the children are going to bring at least one item for the food bank. If you would like to contribute too, please put your items in the green tray on your left as you enter the Church Hall. Thank you.

THE ‘OUR FATHER’: During last year’s Annual Parish Assembly, some parishioners suggested that saying (rather than singing) the ‘Our Father’ may encourage more parishioners to join in with this prayer. As a result of this, over the coming two weeks, the Our Father will be said rather than sung, and a period of informal consultation will follow. Please let the pass-keepers or any member of the Parish Pastoral Council know your thoughts during this few weeks, or you can drop an email to info@rcboness.org.
