The Offertory Collections last week amounted to £397.70 and £633.20 was collected in the SCIAF wee boxes - grateful thanks to all donors.

Solemnity of the Ascension - This Thursday is the Solemnity of the Ascension which is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be celebrated at 10am at St Mary’s. 

Special Collection, 21 May - World Communications Day is on Sunday 21 May. Pope Francis has chosen the theme of speaking with the heart - “The truth in love” (Eph 4:15). There will be a special collection for the apostolate of communications. We pray for all those in the Church who communicate to others, through multiple means, the saving truth of the Gospel, that they may be diligent servants of the Word and conscientious champions of the truth.

Celebrate Marriage - On Wednesday 31 May at 7:15pm the Archbishop will celebrate a special Mass for Married and Engaged Couples at the Cathedral. All married and engaged couples are very welcome to come on the night and celebrate the gift of marriage. After the Mass there will be a celebratory reception in Coffee Saints to which everyone attending the Mass is invited. If you are celebrating a significant anniversary this year, or know couples who are, do let us know so that we can send a personal invitation. Corpus Christi Procession - Celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi with Archbishop Cushley who will lead a Corpus Christi procession through Falkirk town centre at 2:30pm on Sunday 11 June. The procession will head to St Francis Xavier’s Church for Benediction followed by refreshments in the church hall. Altar Servers can wear their altar robes and those who have recently had their First Holy Communion can wear their dresses/suits. 40 hours from Friday through to Sunday evening.

St Margaret’s Pilgrimage 2023 - St Margaret’s Pilgrimage returns to Dunfermline on Sunday 18 June. Mass is at 2:30pm in St Margaret’s Memorial Church in East Port, with Archbishop Cushley as principal celebrant. Ecumenical service at 12:30pm in Dunfermline Abbey, followed by prayers at the tomb of St Margaret. Join people from across the Archdiocese and beyond to give thanks to God for St Margaret’s example of faith, charity and leadership. 

Lourdes Pilgrimage 2023 - There’s still time to book your place on the Archdiocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes, which takes place from 7-14 July. For full details visit or email

Called & Gifted Workshop - Identify your charisms (spiritual gifts) and discern God’s call through the Called and Gifted Workshop. It is hosted by the Archdiocese in collaboration with the St Catherine of Siena Institute and takes place on Saturday 20 May from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Cost is £25 and includes materials, online access, and lunch. Details and registration at 

Dominican Conference - This conference offers participants an opportunity to explore what lies at the heart of being a Dominican. It takes place on Friday 23and Saturday 24 June 2023 at various venues in Edinburgh city centre, including St Mary’s Cathedral. Visit for details and to book. 

Retreat - Journeying Onward is a four-week retreat beginning on Saturday 27 May, offered by the Edinburgh Jesuit Centre and The Epiphany Group Scotland. It is open to all and can be taken online or in-person, with the option of individual meetings. For more information or to book, email or

Society of St Gregory Summer School - A summer school for parish musicians and liturgists takes place from 6 -29 July 2023 at Liverpool Hope University. Bursary funding available. More at

Concert - A free concert of choral music from the St John’s Chamber Choir of Malmö, Sweden, takes place at Sacred Heart Church, Lauriston Street, Edinburgh, EH3 9DJ, at 7pm on Saturday 20 May. All welcome.
