Volunteer with Us

Volunteering Opportunities

At St. Mary’s we have a strong team of volunteers who support the work of our parish. In addition to those who volunteer with our parish groups, volunteers also assist in the roles described on this page.

If you need the help of any of our volunteers, or would like to get involved, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. Telephone numbers for each of these roles are listed, and to get involved in our parish groups you can find their telephone numbers by clicking here.

Digital Ministry

Our parish website is designed to keep parishioners updated on everything that’s going on at St. Mary’s, and volunteers support our efforts to live stream Mass every Sunday morning and operate our church's sound system. For more information, to get involved or if you have spotted an error on our website please contact us here or contact Callum Timms on 07817 510850.

Music Ministry

Those who serve at Mass by providing music add to the vibrancy of our celebrations. At present, volunteers operate a digital hymnal at the Vigil Mass, and an organist plays at 10am Mass on Sundays, and for special occasions. We have visiting organists who assist on other occasions, but it would be wonderful to have even more talented musicians! Previously we have had a music group, so all intruments are very welcome! For more information, or to get involved, please contact us or leave a message on the church hall's phone number.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are commissioned to distribute the Blessed Sacrament, the Body and Blood of Christ. They perform this function at Mass as well as leading services of Holy Communion in the Church when no priest is available to celebrate Mass. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion also take the Blessed Sacrament to the sick and the housebound at home and, when necessary in hospital, if they are unable to make it to the church.

For more information, to request a home/hospital visit, or to get involved, speak to Father Forrest after Mass or by calling 01506 822339, or contact Callum Timms on 07817 510850.
