To mark the month of November, dedicated to praying for the Holy Souls and remembering all those who have died, we will gather in prayer on the following occasions:

Today at 11am, following Sunday Mass - prayers in Bo’ness Cemetery (a short time of prayer for the Holy Souls buried in Bo’ness Cemetery). 

27 Nov at 11am, following Sunday Mass - prayers in New Carriden Cemetery (a short time of prayer for the Holy Souls buried in New Carriden Cemetery). 

Our annual St Andrew’s Day celebration is also returning following the pandemic:

30 Nov at 7pm in the church - St Andrew’s Day celebration (a time of prayer and music followed by a fish supper in the church hall - tickets are now on sale in the hall for £3 each). 

 

Fabric and Finance Committee

The next meeting of the Fabric and Finance Committee and the Health and safety Committee will take place on Sunday 11th December at 3pm in the church hall.

Catholic Education Week:16-30 November

Bookshop
A Catholic bookshop is set to open at St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh on Saturday 26 November. St Pauls Bookshop will have a wide range of Christian literature as well as gift items. Find your perfect stocking filler there! Opening hours will be 10:00am to 5:30pm, including weekends (closed Mondays).

Entering Advent
Mark the beginning of Advent with an online talk titled ‘Entering Advent with Isaiah’ with Fr Jamie McMorrin, of St Margaret’s in Davidson’s Mains, Edinburgh. It takes place on Zoom, Monday 28 November at 7:30pm-8:30pm. Register now at bit.ly/enteradvent

Light from Light: choral music for Advent by candlelight
This December be uplifted with a candlelit Advent music concert from the Schola Cantorum of St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh. They will sing at the following churches: St Francis Xavier's in Falkirk on Wednesday 7 December; St Patrick's in Kilsyth on Saturday 10 December; St Margaret's in Dunfermline on Friday 16 December. Female vocations
Thinking about a vocation to the religious life? Join other young Catholic women to chat and explore God's will in five monthly get-togethers in Edinburgh. Led by Sr Mirjam Hugens FSO, the first one takes place on Sunday 29 January, 4-7pm at St Columba’s, 9 Upper Gray Street. It is a chance to pray, share and discuss in a relaxed environment, and refreshments will be served. St Andrew’s Day
Celebrate the feast day of our National Patron at St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh. There will be adoration on Tuesday 29 November from 7pm which will conclude with Evening Prayer and Benediction at 8pm. Then on Wednesday 30 November, Archbishop Leo Cushley will celebrate Mass at 12:45pm. It was Andrew who, famously, brought Peter to Jesus – this feast day is your opportunity in a special way – to go to Jesus, through Andrew.

Holy Hour with Archbishop Cushley
Join Archbishop Cushley for Eucharistic Adoration at St Margaret’s Chapel at the Gillis Centre, 100 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh, to pray for “insight, courage and joy in our mission,” as part of the Synod 2023. It takes place at 6pm on the following Sundays: 18 Dec, 10 Jan, 12 Feb, 12 Mar. No registration required, just turn up and pray.

Youth Safeguarding Forum
The new Scottish Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency is developing a forum for young Catholic adults. It will look at the current safeguarding training and resources for people in youth ministries, discuss ideas and create a package of training and resources for ministries involving young people.  If you are between the ages of 18 and 25 and would be interested in joining please contact Helena Rameckers by emailing training@scssa.org.ukor phoning07394 862 279 by Friday, 9 December.
