The Offertory Collections last weekend amounted to £549.17, grateful thanks to all donors.


Parish Fun Day!  Today (Sunday) is the day! From 1pm until 4pm in the church grounds and hall we will welcome the local Fire Brigade and Police with chances to learn about their work and get hands-on with some of their kit, we’ll have a bouncy castle, a range of fun activities and a BBQ too, as well as tea, coffee and refreshments in the church hall. All are very welcome! Please extend an invitation to friends and neighbours too!


Celebration Mass We look forward to celebrating the 90th birthday of Fr Forrest and marking the Silver Jubilee of Fr Alex Davie which took place during the pandemic. Mass will be celebrated by Fr Alex at 7pm on Monday 21st August and will be followed by tea, coffee and refreshments. All are very welcome and we’d love to see you there!


Safeguarding Training There will be mandatory safeguarding training for all parish volunteers who routinely work with children or vulnerable adults. This will take place on Monday 18th September at 7pm in the church hall. If you are unable to attend or unsure if you are required to, please speak to Callum or email


RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the official title given to the journey taken by adults who wish to become Catholic. So often we are approached by families or individuals where someone attends Mass regularly and either wishes to become Catholic or wants to find out more about the faith. If this is you, or you know someone who would like to explore their faith, we’d like to offer a very warm welcome to our RCIA open evening in the church hall on Wednesday 27th September at 7.30pm! We will be joined by those who have made this journey before and will discuss what the sessions would look like. 


Special collection There will be a special collection next Sunday (20 August) for the African Missions & Holy Places. Please give generously.


Altar Servers Day A day of faith, fun, and friendship for altar servers takes place at the Gillis Centre, 100 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh on Saturday 16 September at 10:30am to 3:00pm. Please speak to any passkeeper for more information.


Festival Mass The new Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendía, will be the main celebrant at the annual Festival Mass at midday this Sunday 13 August at St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh. Archbishop Cushley will concelebrate and preach the homily.


Festival Music Event Join the Schola Cantorum of St Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh this Monday (14 August) at 7:30pm for a unique performance of Paul Mealor’s sacred choral music along with an interview with the man himself. It's a unique opportunity to hear from one of the world's most performed living composers. Tickets £16 (under 16s £5) available from the Fringe Box Office, Eventbrite or on the door. 


Season of Creation Friday 1 September is the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. It launches the Season of Creation which concludes on 4 Oct. This year’s theme is Let Justice and Peace flow. The Holy Father’s message for the day can be read at


Carfin Pilgrimage The Annual National Pilgrimage to Carfin takes place on Sunday 3 September. Join Archbishop Cushley and Bishops from across Scotland to pray for peace, particularly in the Ukraine.


Caritas, Justice & Peace Mass The annual Caritas, Justice and Peace Mass takes place at St Columba's Church, Upper Gray Street, Edinburgh, at 6:30pm on Monday 4 September. This year’s preacher is Fr Ian Stevenson, Principal RC Chaplain (Army) & Deputy Assistant Chaplain General who will speak on the theme: 'Peace in a Military Context'.  After Mass there will be a hot food buffet. Please register at so organisers can estimate numbers for catering.


Margaret Sinclair Pilgrimage The 2023 National Pilgrimage to pray for the Beatification of the Venerable Margaret Sinclair is on Sunday 17 September at St Patrick's Church, Cowgate, Edinburgh, EH1 1NA. 12:30-1.50pm Refreshments and sale of candles & goods; 2:00pm Holy Hour with Rosary, Confession, Silence, Hymns & Benediction; 3:00pm Reflection & Novena Prayers; 3:30pm break for refreshments and sale of candles & holy items; 4:30pm Holy Mass.
