At St. Mary’s we have a strong team of volunteers who support the work of our parish. In addition to those who volunteer with our parish groups volunteers also assist in the roles below.
If you need the help of any of our volunteers, or would like to get involved, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. Telephone numbers for each of these roles are listed below, and to get involved in our parish groups you can find their telephone numbers by clicking here.
All of our parish volunteers receive training on the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults. In addition, all of our volunteers have passed a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Check.
If you have safeguarding concerns, or would like to learn more about this function, please contact our parish’s safeguarding coordinators Maria Ford on 01506 510629, or Callum Timms on 07817 510850.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are commissioned to distribute the Blessed Sacrament, the Body and Blood of Christ. They perform this function at Mass as well as leading services of Holy Communion in the Church when no priest is available to celebrate Mass. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion also take the Blessed Sacrament to the sick and the housebound at home and, when necessary in hospital, if they are unable to make it to the church.
For more information, to request a home/hospital visit, or to get involved, speak to Father Forrest after Mass or by calling 01506 822339, or contact Callum Timms on 07817 510850.
More commonly known as readers, lectors proclaim the Word of God by reading from the sacred scriptures during Mass.
To find out more or to get involved, contact Father Forrest on 01506 822339 or speak to him after Mass, or contact Callum Timms on 07817 510850.
Those who serve at Mass by providing music add to the vibrancy of our celebrations. At present, volunteers operate a digital hymnal at Mass. For more information, or to get involved, please contact Helen Rintoul on 01506 822996.
