Parish Pastoral Council: There will be a meeting of the PPC on Tuesday 24th October at 7pm in the church hall. This meeting will include discussion on our annual St Andrew’s Night, as well as how we will mark the month of the Holy Souls in November. Altar Servers: We are actively seeking children from Primary 5 upwards who might be interested in becoming an Altar Server. There will be two training sessions, on Sunday 5th November and Sunday 12th November beginning after Mass and finishing at 2pm. Synod Prayer Archbishop Cushley encourages us to pray for the success of the Synod of Bishops, which is taking place in Rome throughout October: We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name. With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it. We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder. Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions. Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right. All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.
All Souls’ Day Archbishop Cushley will offer Holy Mass for the repose of all the faithful departed who have died in the Archdiocese in the last year. It takes place on All Souls’ Day, Thursday 2 November at 10am in the Chapel at Mount Vernon Cemetery, 49 Mount Vernon Road, Edinburgh, EH16 6JG. All welcome.
