Thanks to the Music & Movement Group, for a further donation of £25.

We need help, in the form of more ‘Collection Money Counters’ – particularly after the Sunday morning Mass… If you can spare about 30 minutes – even if only occasionally – please see one of the Pass-Keepers.

R.C.I.A: The next session will be held on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Hall. As we begin this stage of our journey, we will be looking specifically at the Sacraments and the beliefs expressed in the Creed. All are very welcome to attend.

Live-Streaming Parish Services: In recent weeks, you may have noticed a camera and screen at the back of the Church!

We have been trying out a system, to enable us to broadcast Mass and other Services, live and on line, to those, who for one reason or another, are unable to attend our services in person.

Our trials have proved successful and the camera is now permanently positioned on the ceiling!

We have a growing number of sick / housebound Parishioners, and are keen to ensure that they can keep in touch with Parish Services and Events.

With our new equipment, we can broadcast not only to our own Parishioners, but to others, who may live further afield – perhaps overseas – or are members of other churches -perhaps keen to unite with us for a wedding or a funeral.

Please note that we have paid particular attention to personal identities and that no Parishioners will be identifiable on the Live-Stream!

During Mass, the camera will focus entirely on the Altar/Lectern and at other parts of the ceremony (eg Holy Communion or the Children’s Liturgy), the camera will pan to a neutral position, with no identifiable person in focus.

Memorial Book: If you wish to have the name of a loved one inserted into our parish’s memorial book, please give a note with their full name and date of death to a Pass-Keeper.

In your charity, please remember in your prayers, Fr Carr, Maureen Simpson, Eileen Smullen and all the sick and housebound. Also, James Barrett, Richie Blair, Margaret Buchanan, James Joynes, Peter Maguire, Colleen Malarky, Sarah Marshall, Unity Mulraney, Isabella McLaughlin, George Mitchell, Edward Ryan, George Scobie and Kate Tooey, whose anniversaries occur about this time, and Maureen McAllister, who died recently.

We need help, in the form of more ‘Collection Money Counters’ – particularly after the Sunday morning Mass. If you can help for about 30 minutes – even if only occasionally – please see one of the Pass-Keepers.

Parish Pastoral Council: The PPC will meet this Thursday, 18th January, at 7pm in the church hall. The main topic for discussion will be reviewing the parish survey which was conducted before Christmas. All are very welcome to attend.

Rite of Acceptance: At Mass this Sunday we welcome adults in our parish who are preparing to become Catholic. During Mass today they will experience the first Rite on their journey towards receiving the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter. They will be introduced to the Church, and will accept the Word of God for the first time in public, and the Church will in turn welcome them and commit our support to them. Please keep all of them in your prayers as they continue on this very special journey of faith.

Live Streaming Parish Services: You may have noticed the presence of a camera and screen at the back of the church over recent weeks. We have been trialling a system which will enable us to broadcast Holy Mass and other services in the church live online to those unable to attend in person. The camera has now found its permanent location on the ceiling of the church.

Since our Parish Pastoral Council was established in April 2016, many innovative projects have been planned and undertaken for the benefit of parishioners. These included conducting a parish survey to establish what you want from your parish; growing closer links with our local Catholic primary school; and hosting a successful and well-attended St. Andrew’s Night celebration.

As this forward-thinking work progresses, we are delighted to be able to inform you of the installation of the live streaming equipment. With a growing number of sick and housebound parishioners, we are working to ensure that they will still be able to engage with their parish community. Giving them the opportunity to see Mass from their own parish is a significant way of achieving this. Having the equipment means that other services could be broadcast on request for the benefit those who live further afield and are unable to attend the church. For example, in other churches streaming of funerals has proven beneficial to family members abroad, giving them the chance to participate in the celebration of a loved one’s life. The equipment will also allow us to show services on a screen in the Hall, allowing those who attend Mass in the Hall to see as well as hear it. This will also be beneficial for very busy services where the church is full and the Hall is used for overflow.

Throughout the planning process for the installation of this system, the issue of safeguarding has been a key consideration. Please be assured that no parishioners will be visible on the live stream. During Mass, the camera will focus solely on the Altar or the Lectern. At other points during the Mass (for example the distribution of Holy Communion or while the Children’s Liturgy are presenting) the camera will pan to a neutral position where no-one is visible.

We hope that this notice is reassuring, and that you agree that this project has great potential. The live stream will be available through the parish website at www.rcboness.org. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Callum Timms by emailing callum.timms@rcboness.org or calling 07817 510 850 or calling Richard Mulholland on 07764 666 453.

Additionally, the Parish Pastoral Council meets monthly in the church hall. New members who would like to get involved in decisions around projects such as this are very welcome to attend.
